What is Saturday Morning Sampler (SMS)?
A program offered by Quilters Cupboard featuring instruction for all level of quilters but especially well suited for beginners and confident beginners. Enrollees will receive a quilt pattern in monthly installments, in-store monthly instruction and access to a recording of the instruction, available the Tuesday following the in person session.
What is the name of the quilt?
Simcoe Stars BOM (Block of the Month) Sampler Quilt by Arlene Nicholas of the Quilter's Bouquet
- Features 12 different 12" x 12" blocks that are traditionally pieced and surround a stunning star medallion with sashing and borders. Borders can be done scalloped or straight.
- Make it scrappy or use a carefully curated collection of your favourite fabrics
- Quilt finishes at 70" x 70"
When is it held?
The last Saturday of the month for 8 months (September through April) starting at 10AM
September 26, October 31, November 28, December 19, January 30, February 27, March 27, April 24
Where is it held?
In person instruction will be held in the classroom at Quilters Cupboard. Recording of the class will be available to those registered for the program on the Tuesday following the in-person session. If you will only be accessing the recordings of the class, and not attending in person, you will receive the monthly installments of the pattern as a non-shareable PDF which you can print at home.
Who is the instructor?
Judy Graham will demonstrate the steps for the completion of each block and share tips and insights along the way. For some quilt block units (such as Flying Geese, for example), multiple ways of making the unit will be demonstrated. In the classroom, you will have the opportunity to ask as many questions as you need to feel comfortable sewing at home.
What is the feet
$65 includes the pattern provided in monthly installments, in person instruction, access to video recording of instruction, access to private Facebook group.
The fun part! Each month you will bring in your completed block(s) from the previous month, and they will be displayed on the design board in the classroom.
For those taking part remotely you are encouraged to post pictures of your blocks on the private Facebook group.
This is an opportunity to see how different fabric combinations produce completely different finished quilts. It's also a great to discuss any challenging steps in the blocks.

There will be prize draws and maybe even some surprise SMS promotions. There will be an opportunity each month for Show and Share too! This is a wonderful opportunity to be inspired and to meet new quilting friends!
Class fee is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
